A NSW private boarding school developed a water harvesting strategy for its school grounds aiming to become largely independent of mains supply. The residents of the boarding house produced a large amount of greywater which was identified as a significant opportunity for recycling.
An Oasis GT600 was installed and connected to the showers basins and a washing machine of the main boarding house. To ensure safety, an independent accredited laboratory monitored the water quality for the first six months.
The Oasis GT600 now produces over 350,000 litres of quality Class 'A' water per year which testing found exceeded the state requirements. The school now has sufficient water to irrigate the school gardens and playgrounds without reliance on the limited local rainfall. The school council is now considering installing additional systems on other school buildings.
