Rainwater Harvesting Projects

SlabTank

Challenge

Azuratec was asked to specify a rainwater harvesting system for a 400sqm site where the home owners wanted to capture sufficient rainwater for their garden and toilet usage. Aesthetics were critical to the owners and all free land had to be kept for garden and lifestyle uses. The block was very steep and the buildings would be built on slabs set-in to the land.

Response

Azuratec specified a 26 module SlabTank system capable of storing over 6500 litres of rainwater. On request by the builder, Azuratec was able to accommodate a delay in the scheduled installation by 2 days at short notice. Delivery and installation of the system in the garage slab took place before midday and the concrete was poured as normal that afternoon. A high performance Davey pump and automatic switching RainBank were installed and the system is plumbed to the toilets and garden taps.

Outcome

Built in amongst a suburb of older water inefficient homes, this home has become independent of mains water for lifestyle purposes. Significant savings were made by both the builder and home owner by opting for a waffle style slab over a raft slab by using the SlabTanks instead of foam pods or sand forms.
